Drink Up--Then Recycle the Memories

Part I

Still need gift ideas for your loved ones for the holiday? Still hoarding those glass empties in your basement? Do you prefer home-made “crafty” projects for gifts instead of cheap store-bought Chinese trinkets? Then create a garden masterpiece. Haul out the old wine bottles and transform them into a whimsical glass bottle tree. Make two (or more) and save one for your own garden.

BORING!
This folk art tree rage is busting with popularity and you can’t buy it at Wal-Mart--yet. I am going to avoid the Friday shopping day crowds and stay home and think up ways to kick it up a notch. Those recycled bottles are quite boring and unimaginative. Popular colors are blue and green—some with labels on; others bare, clean and shiny. In other words, if you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all.

If you don’t have any bottles sitting around because you conscientiously recycle immediately after the last drop, then wait until the day after Thanksgiving and scrounge through your neighbors curb-side stash. Not everyone drinks enough to make a flourishing tree let alone two dozen!

To be continued... See Part II--New ideas for souped-up bottle tree sculptures.

2014 Guess what? We actually added one in our garden! Can't believe I did this!
