Get Ready to Plan a Garden Party

It's not too late to start planning for a garden party--either small or grand!  If you want something over the top, see the Queen's garden parties and the history of how they started.  The queen's parties consist of a splendid garden (hers).  Add some tea and cookies and a guest list of thousands and you're set.

A step down would be the Chicago Botanical Gardens idea of a garden party. Still seats tons of folks though you could replicate a smaller version for your venue.

Nice touch--green grass seating--but I wouldn't wear white to this affair.
I also wouldn't fertilize just before the party.

For a crowd not as large, this party set-up works for four "small" people. The lettuce growing in the clay pot is edible and looks pretty. Pass the raspberry vinaigrette!

If you don't have the resources to buy expensive plates that you most likely will only use once, you can of course find paper plates with plants printed on them. These seen below can be found at Macy's in Chicago.

Here's a table set and ready for diners to arrive. (Below) While it is located inside, it could easily be moved outside. Check out the pebble table runners. Those green spheres on the table might be fake pomegranates. Use tennis balls if you can't find them.  For added greenery, cut some long grass and stick the blades into an expensive glass vase filled with water.
